Gregory Lucas was born in North Carolina in 1976. He attended Savannah College of Art and Design in the early 2000's earning an Overall Portfolio Scholarship.

He studied oil painting with David A. Leffel, Gregg Kreutz, Timothy C. Tyler, and Rich Nelson. He also later attended the former Fine Arts League of the Carolina's studying life drawing.
